Musinsa, an online fashion platform, has started developing clothes using eco-friendly materials and is reinforcing its style of 'ESG management'. To this end, Musinsa has teamed up with Hyosung TNC, a textile manufacturer in Korea.
Musinsa entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business partnership with Hyosung TNC on the terrace of the Musinsa office in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 21st in the presence of officials representing both companies, including Lee Geon-oh, head of the PB division at Musinsa, and Kang Tae-ho, managing director of PET sales at Hyosung TNC. Through this agreement, the two companies plan to collaborate on the development and application of eco-friendly materials related to ‘Musinsa Standard’ products.
Hyosung TNC is a textile material company belonging to the Hyosung Group, and has ranked first in global market shares for 'Spandex', a type of synthetic fiber with excellent elasticity. It is also a leading firm in the domestic eco-friendly textile industry through its successive annual launches of recycled polyester ‘Regen Seoul’, ‘Regen Jeju’, and ‘Regen Ocean’ in collaboration with local governments.
Musinsa Standard is a ‘modern basic casual wear’ brand launched by Musinsa in 2017, focusing on basic fashion items such as T-shirts and blazers. Musinsa Standard strives to provide new value to customers by supplying high-quality clothing made from high-quality materials at reasonable prices.
Musinsa plans to introduce a new 'Green Line', which applies Hyosung TNC's eco-friendly 'Regen' fabric to the Musinsa Standard brand in the first half of this year. Both companies will also be making use of their mutual capabilities and resources in content creation and marketing during the production process.
Musinsa is expected to accelerate the development of products using eco-friendly yarns and fabrics starting through this agreement, with their ESG management being further reinforced based on the production capability of Musinsa Standard’s Green Line.
"I am very excited to be able to introduce a new eco-friendly Green Line with Hyosung TNC, the leading eco-friendly textile firm in Korea." commented Lee Geon-oh, head of the PB division at Musinsa, adding that “we will continue to strive to provide better products to our customers by strengthening our production capabilities making use of eco-friendly materials.”
