MUSINSA Signs Exclusive Distribution Partnership With Matin Kim in Japan “First Tokyo Store Set for Next Year, With Plans for 15 Locations in Five Years”

MUSINSA has signed a partnership with fashion brand Matin Kim to establish an exclusive distribution agreement for the Japanese market.

MUSINSA will provide comprehensive support for Matin Kim’s entry into the Japanese market through this partnership. From the second half of this year through 2029, MUSINSA will be responsible for all aspects of the brand’s distribution and sales in Japan, including marketing, public relations, and the launch and operation of offline stores.

Matin Kim will carry out its local business through MUSINSA’s online and offline channels. The brand will primarily utilize the MUSINSA Global Store for online sales, and in the first half of next year, it will open its first standalone store in a major commercial district of Tokyo. Matin Kim aims to open a total of 15 stores across Japan within the next five years as part of its market expansion strategy.

Since joining the MUSINSA Global Store in November 2022, Matin Kim has introduced its brand to local customers through key promotions and offline pop-up events. Encouraged by the positive response and growth potential observed in the Japanese market, it has decided to pursue an official market entry through its partnership with MUSINSA.

Based on their partnership, MUSINSA and Matin Kim will use data from the MUSINSA Global Store to analyze local customer behavior and trends. They plan to meet local demand by offering localized products and applying a market-specific strategy.

MUSINSA also plans to actively leverage its local network and market entry expertise, built through supporting Korean brands’ expansion into Japan, to help Matin Kim establish and grow in the Japanese market.

Meanwhile, MUSINSA established its Japanese subsidiary, MUSINSA Japan, in 2021 and has continued to invest and provide support to expand the presence and influence of Korean fashion in the local market. Through pop-up events, showrooms, and other initiatives targeting local consumers and key retail buyers, MUSINSA has successfully introduced several Korean brands, including Stand Oil, Glowny, and Rest & Recreation.
