MUSINSA is taking the lead in helping partner brands enter the Chinese market by supporting essential approvals and regulatory compliance. Beyond assisting with China’s national standards certification GB (Guó Jiā Biāo Zhǔn, hereafter ‘GB’) and trademark registrations, MUSINSA will also run hands-on training programs to strengthen brands’ in-house capabilities.
GB is a set of standards established by the Chinese government to ensure product quality and consumer safety. Because GB certification is mandatory for all industrial products manufactured, imported, or sold in China, it is a regulatory requirement that any brand planning market entry must address.
To help partner brands navigate GB and other stringent requirements effectively, MUSINSA has built a structured support framework. In collaboration with the FITI Testing & Research Institute—an accredited textile and fashion testing body with a branch office in Shanghai—MUSINSA supports the full GB conformity testing process.
Specific support for MUSINSA partner brands includes: △Operating a dedicated consultation desk △Free sample pick-up for brands based in Seoul △Discounted testing fees △ Expedited delivery of test results. In addition, working with local Chinese law firms, MUSINSA provides step-by-step consulting from trademark filing through post-registration maintenance.
Beyond procedural assistance, MUSINSA also operates practical training programs to help partner brands build self-sufficient compliance capabilities. In October, MUSINSA hosted its first session on trademarks and GB certification, with more than 50 partner brands participating to kick-start their China market readiness.
The program comprised two sessions: ‘Trademark Fundamentals Every Brand Should Know for China’ and ‘Understanding GB Testing for Successful Market Entry in China’. Focusing on the real-world steps brands often find challenging, the sessions covered trademark eligibility, stage-by-stage processes, and the core concepts and requirements of GB testing. The training was led by experts from a patent law firm with extensive trademark practice and from the FITI Testing & Research Institute.
A MUSINSA official said, ‘We launched these support programs to address the pain points K-fashion brands face when entering China, particularly around GB testing and trademark operations. As a global partner to domestic designer brands, MUSINSA will continue to help brands focus on their craft by lowering the barriers posed by complex regulations and procedures encountered during overseas expansion.’
