MUSINSA has appointed a seasoned expert with extensive experience in Japan’s luxury and fashion business as the new head of its Japanese subsidiary, in a move to further strengthen its foothold in the Japanese market.
MUSINSA announced the appointment of Mike Ikeda as the new CEO of MUSINSA JAPAN, its local subsidiary established in 2021 to support the expansion of Korean fashion brands across both online and offline channels in Japan.
Mr. Ikeda brings over 25 years of experience in the Japanese fashion industry. He began his career at Nike Japan in 1999 as a merchandise manager, later serving as brand director at Levi’s Japan. He subsequently held leadership roles as country manager at Oakley Japan, BOSS Japan, and Cath Kidston Japan, and most recently served as CEO of Dr. Martens Japan from 2020 until mid-2025. Throughout his career, he has led product planning and business development for numerous global fashion brands.
With this appointment, MUSINSA aims to accelerate the growing popularity of K-Fashion in Japan. Under Ikeda’s leadership, MUSINSA JAPAN is expected to enhance its operational expertise and efficiency in introducing and distributing Korean fashion in the local market. Drawing on his extensive experience in product development, supply-chain management, and offline retail operations, Mr. Ikeda is poised to strengthen partnerships with Japanese brands and expand MUSINSA’s offline presence.
Currently, MUSINSA introduces more than 3,000 brands to Japanese consumers through its online platform, MUSINSA GLOBAL STORE. In the third quarter of 2025 (July–September), transaction volume in the Japanese region increased by 120% year-on-year, and in October alone, sales grew more than fivefold compared to the same period last year.
On November 6, MUSINSA also officially launched its shop on Japan’s leading fashion e-commerce platform ZOZOTOWN. This enables Korean fashion brands listed on MUSINSA STORE to seamlessly sell their products to Japanese consumers via ZOZOTOWN.
A MUSINSA official commented “Japan plays a central role in MUSINSA’s global expansion strategy. With Mike Ikeda’s deep understanding of the local market, we plan to further accelerate the distribution of Korean designer brands in Japan and strengthen both our online and offline business growth.”
